Why we built a whole bank before selling the platform

Twickenham Community Bank is not a client - it's the demonstration institution we built to prove N2 end to end. Here's what that takes, and why we did it.

Demos lie. Banks don't.

Every platform vendor has a demo. Clickable prototypes, staged data, the happy path on rails. We decided the only honest way to show what N2 does was to build an entire bank on it and let people poke at the real thing.

So we did. Twickenham Community Bank is our demonstration institution: a fictional community bank with a real brand, a real public website, a real product catalogue, and real end-to-end journeys. Nothing on it is staged - if the loan calculator shows you a repayment, that's the platform's pricing engine computing it; if you open a savings account, that's the actual onboarding flow running.

What a whole bank includes

  • The public site and storefront. Loans from £100 credit builders to £35,000 car finance, savings from £1 - every product served from the catalogue, with live calculators showing repayments and projections as the slider moves.
  • Membership onboarding. Identity, eligibility and affordability checks behind a flow people finish on their phone in one sitting.
  • A member portal without passwords. Face, fingerprint or a one-time code - passkeys by default, phishing-resistant by design.
  • The operational backbone. Collections, communications and a live view of the book, because a bank is mostly the parts members never see.

Why bother?

Because the demo is the delivery. When a credit union or building society asks "how would this look for us?", the answer isn't a proposal - it's TCB with your brand board applied. The second institution doesn't pay for the first one's scaffolding: brand in, products configured, journeys themed. The timeline is measured in weeks, and most of it is content and configuration, not code.

And because it keeps us honest. Running a bank - even a demonstration one - on your own platform surfaces every rough edge before a customer ever does.

The part people don't see

Under the hood it's the same discipline we apply to everything: AWS serverless in London, encrypted at rest and in transit, least-privilege access for every component, and an audit trail behind every decision. Security reviews go quicker when the honest answer to "where are the servers?" is "there aren't any."
